Concert Reading around the book by Charles Mingus “Beneath the Underdog” – As part of Le Grand Dire festival.

* Natascha Rudolf reads selected extracts from the book “Beneath the Underdog” accompanied by the music of Charles Mingus played by Philippe Chagne and Olivier Defays (saxes), Philippe Petit (piano), Cédric Caillaux (double bass) and Sylvain Glevarec (drums).
* On Thursday, May 23, in the first part: the jazz class of the Conservatoire de musique et de danse de Chevilly-Larue, directed by Philippe Chagne.
Entrance: €10, students and apprentices: €5, minors and job seekers are our guests.

The first of two discs self-released by Danny Barker under the King Zulu label probably at the end of 1953. Four tracks in the spirit of Mardi Gras Indians Music of New Orleans. King Zulu 001: Chocko Mo Feendo Hey/My Indian Red; King Zulu 002: Tootie Ma Is A Big Fine Thing/Corinne Died On The Battlefield. Both records were reissued as 45rpm in the 2000s.
